 Thank God for this book! I was considering my second house to renovate and had even already made a very low first offer. Based on my calculations I felt I had a certain amount of room to negotiate but after reading this book I changed my strategy in several key ways:

• Asked them to agree to a home inspection before I gave a counter offer, they agreed.
• Based on the professional inspection a few very key items were discovered that I was not aware of causing me to re-evaluate my numbers.
• Also, based on the book, I realized that my timing in making an offer was too soon! I should have waited another month or so until the prime spring selling season was over. Than they would be more willing to negotiate the price. I have since slowed down, stepping away for a few weeks to give them the time to really understand reality.

Reading this book when I did has probably saved me tens of thousands of dollars on my next project and has helped me to see mistakes I had made on a previous house. If only I had read this earlier!

 This book removed the fears and gave me courage! I held an impression on pending disaster if I were to venture out into the world of "flipping" a house. I was never willing even consider the risk until I read Realistic Flipping. This risk still existed but I wasn't alone. This book is more than just warning signs, it is a realistic map with practical, easy to follow directions. Directions from people who have lived here awhile that give great landmarks so I would know when to turn, stop, or keep on going.

 I just read Realistic Flipping, which was an easy read, and was impressed by how well the information was organized, as well as how readable the book was overall. There were lots of examples and "before" and "after" pictures.

The whole feel of the book seemed to be to make newcomers feel comfortable and confident to go ahead and get started. The subject matter was comprehensive and took into account a lot of things I would not have thought of. There was emphasis on significant points like having a realtor who understands what you are looking for, and on picking houses with enough issues to significantly reduce your purchase price but not so severe as to impair the structural integrity of the house. Of course, once you find that house, you need to know what to do with it.

So, there were lots of tips on how to handle a wide range of problems with plumbing, electrical, kitchen design, bathroom and kitchen remodeling, etc., and good judgment so as not to overspend on the renovation. I appreciated the emphasis on developing good long-term relationships with various professionals who will make your experience successful.
